Be Intentional: Culture

“The development of a culture becomes, through the process, a means of attracting, fostering, and retaining good team members. In short, take care of the culture because the culture is what cares for your people. If you want a better culture, the first step is to STOP doing those things that are undermining your development.”

In late 2015, Jon Isaacson reached out to me asking about contributing articles to R&R. His first column was in early 2016, about shared office spaces (seems a little ironic in 2021), and was complete with some quirky images like the one you see above. At the time, he worked for BELFOR, but was also starting to find a place for himself as an industry steward, thought leader, and contributor.

Over time, he ventured into more restoration-specific content, like his 10 Commandments of Xactimate Estimating Success, published in fall 2018 in R&R. In 2019, The Intentional Restorer brand was born in R&R, and his reach has expanded from there with a podcast, and now two books.

Last year, Jon published Be Intentional: Estimating. In the midst of 2020, he approached me to be part of his new book Be Intentional: Culture. While I played a very small role, just writing the introduction, I was honored to get an early read through many of the chapters authored by other industry thought leaders who share their lessons and wisdom on creating companies with healthy, vibrant cultures that foster growth both for individuals and the company.

You can find these books on Amazon! They are quick, entertaining reads, well worth your time!

Enjoy!
